Term 1 is well underway, and with all the busyness of the new school year, your 2023 yearbook is probably the last thing on your mind! The yearbook production process doesn’t ramp up until the second half of the school year, but there are still some things to think about early on! The sooner you begin yearbook planning, the easier it will be further down the track.
Luckily, there isn’t too much to do in Term 1, but here are a few things to consider in the next couple of months.
Yearbook Reflections
How did last year’s yearbook go? What took longer than expected, and what were some common hiccups along the way? Who took fabulous photos, and did the design turn out as you had hoped?
Jot down some notes on how the process went, what you’d like to change, and what you’d like to replicate for this year!
Research Design
The best time to get inspired is when you aren’t time-poor and under pressure! It’s a lot more fun to peruse yearbooks and other forms of design inspiration when there are no impending deadlines. Choose a Yearbook Team
Think about who you want to work on the school yearbook. Would a yearbook committee be a good way to involve students and let them showcase their editorial talents?
Take Photos
School events start early in the year. By remembering to take lots of photos at these events, you’ll have far more content to work with when it comes to laying out your yearbook. Have a look through your school event calendar and allocate the task of taking photos to the teachers, coaches or parents that will be there.
